Why did I buy an iPod?
Its a second generation 8Gb iPod touch. There isn't much point in me raving about what it can't do or can do, thats been discussed ad nauseam. What I will say is that I purchased this device because I was going to use it as another controller for the Mi Casa Verde Vera home controller for controlling my Z-Wave devices.
I was excited to dive in an play with some of the apps I've heard a lot about, but then dissapointed to find that most of them cost money. Even once I download skype I was dismayed to find that the earphones that came with the iPod don't have a Mic on them. I hear buying in to Apple is a slippery slope - I'll have to wait a while I guess to truly find the reason why I bought this thing. That or Jailbreak it.
I did buy an iPod for one major reason, extending my Home Automation solution. And so despite the responsiveness of it over similar touch screen devices (Android), it gets slightly lower marks because the lack of cool apps to support my purchase. I'm sure some you will disagree...
