If you live in the Mid-West, Jacks Wholesale Windows may be an option for you. You may want to read about my experience working with them before you sign anything.
On January 16th of 2010, I signed an agreement with a sales rep from Jacks Wholesale Windows for the installation of two triple pane low-e windows in our main living area. The sales rep wasn't the most polite or polished fellow, but his honesty and integrity sold me on their product. He reassured me that their installation team is top notch and that they usually come out to check the measurement within a week and install a week or two after that. "2 to 3 weeks and you'll have your new windows installed", he said.
Like clockwork, the Jacks Wholesale Windows team called within a few days and were out to do the final measure on our windows within a week.
Imagine my disappointment then, in Jacks Wholesale Windows, when another 3 weeks goes by and we don't hear anything from anybody regarding our installation. I call in early February to ask about the status of our order, "They'll be calling you about an installation schedule by February 16th" I was told.
February 16th. Nada, no calls from Jacks Wholesale Windows. The 17th, still nothing. I call them, "We tried calling but couldn't get through on the number you gave us". Ok, fair enough - it was my Google Voice number that I gave them but lets say that for some reason that Google Voice was failing just me - just my number that week. Shortly after I confirm an install date for the following week (39 days after signing the agreement), my Google Voice number receives two calls from Jacks Wholesale Windows that immediately hang up after the first ring. Guess my Google Voice number was working after all.
February 24th, install day is here - I take a day off so that I can be available for the 3 hour installation window. At about 1:00pm, the install team shows up. The only guy that came in didn't even say anything so I introduced my self and he gave me his name. He proceeded to measure and make a few more trips in and out of the house. His partner started walking around the back of my property. Thirty minutes go by and I still have no idea what they're doing. The installer then asks me if I would be ok to reschedule the install so that the guy who originally measure the windows can be here. Hmm. No.
But, sadly, that was pretty much were it ended. He went back out to his truck and tinkered around for a bit, came back in and repeated the situation. He didnt' feel comfortable installing the windows because he believed that they were measured wrong. I call Jacks Wholesale Windows and ask to speak with somebody regarding this service or lack thereof. Wouldnt' you know it, the Sales Manager isn't available to speak with me. Now I'm out my deposit ($1000) and have no idea where my windows are at.
I look forward to resolving this issue, but for now I strongly caution you - don't buy windows from Jacks Wholesale Windows!!
UPDATE - 3/1/2010
This situation is currently in the process of being repaired. A representative of Jacks Wholesale Warehouse has visited the house and helped restore my confidence in their business. I will post an update once this issue is completely resolved.
