iFinally bought an iPod

I finally bought an iPod touch because the opportunity to pick up a brand new 2nd Generation iPod dropped in my lap.  $100 seemed like a steal at the time.  What helped fuel my decision to purchase the iPod was that the forums for my Vera by Mi Casa Verde was sprinkled with praise about the sleek interface.  This was to be my Home Automation controller extender.

Its not an app so far as I can tell, just a web interface customized for the iPod/iPhone. What a let down.  Home Buddy, by rakstar, for the Android is a  much more solid solution.  Heck, the built in site that runs on the Vera itself renders much better on the Android, probably because it supports Flash and Javascript I guess.  With Mi Casa Verde's iPod webpages, each command for turning on/off a light or checking a device causes a full post back.  This also makes it slight less easy to return to control after the iPod powers down or goes to sleep.

I guess maybe I'm mostly let down because I heard so many good things about the usability of iPods and their apps.  Granted it was just a website, this was not a great introduction.  Seems like Android powered devices are the way to go for Home Automation at this point.
