Cooper RF9534-N 600W Z-Wave Dimmer Switch

I ordered 2 of these in-wall dimmer switches as part of my new Home Automation initiative.  Well, I actually ordered a different switch but these were sent instead.  I also ordered 2 similar Z-Wave dimmer switches just so that I could see if there was any functional difference that warranted the price difference. These Cooper dimmers definitely have a solid feel to them and I like the delayed off feature.  Plus the guys I talked to at Home Seer really talked up the Cooper line of devices.

So far I must say I'm pretty dissapointed fairly satisfied in this product.  At an average retail price of $120, you would think it important to include wiring directions that match the device.  Both of the switches I received have a Red, Black, Blue, and Ground wire coming out the back.  The instructions that came with them as well as the instructions featured on HomeSeer's site show a Red, Black, WHITE, and Ground.  I falsely assumed that I could replace the Blue wire with the White wire... Wrong!!  I turned the breaker on and closed the Air gap switch. LED's flash green, I hear a POP, and then smell the familiar auroma of burnt electronics.  Damn.  Well, nows a good time as any to see how well Cooper responds to there warranty and satisfaction gaurantee claims.  More on that to come.

Also, I am unable to get this device to operate at any capacity with other Z-Wave devices on my homes Z-Wave Network.  I've tried resetting according to the instructions linked below and I've tried restting it with the Z-Wave dongle that came with my Home Controller (Vera).  I never paired this switch up with any controller and it was the first Z-Wave device installed in my network.

I hope to get this device operational and revisit this post with a better rating, but for now I'm still asking "Why did I buy this thing?".

Ok, considering recent events this product is on its way up.  Cooper Wiring Devices is really standing behind their product.  I'll probably be back soon to give this higher marks once it actually works.

UPDATE

Products repalced, work as stated.  Installed easy and the RF9534's have a better feel and feature set than similar Z-Wave dimmers.
