How to Activate your new Samsung Galaxy S III for Verizon Wireless


Ok, after much anticipation, I finally received my Pebble Blue Samsung Galaxy S3 today.  Unfortunately I had some troubles activating the phone on Verizon's network.

I popped in the SIM card and battery and fired it up.  It jumps right into the activation screen where it sat for the next 20 minutes before displaying an error instructing me to restart and try again.  I tried again. And again.  This went on for an hour and a half.  Arggghhh!


Fortunately there were some other happy S3 users who had already gone through this issue with Verizon.  One thread I read posted the solution that worked for them, and as it turns out it also worked for me!



Make sure your old phone (if you had one) and new Samsung Galaxy are turned off. The SIM card should be in the phone for when you do turn it on though.  Login to with your account credentials.  Now look for the "Activate or Switch Device" button/tile under the DEVICE column near the middle of the page.  Follow that wizard to activate your new phone.  

Once I completed that quick process, I turned on my Galaxy S III and it completed the activation process.  2 minutes later I was able to sign into my Google Account and start using the device.  Woohoo!
